Roof Deck Steel Gate Project

During the TEL3 Building Walkthrough by the New BoD way back in 2017, we already saw the need to re-install the old steel gates to secure the area of the Overhead Tanks. However, a lot of projects took priority and this went to the "back burner" since the roof deck at the time remain off limits to residents.

As a COVID pandemic measure during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) we made the Roof Deck area accessible to residents so that they may be able to have access to an area to roam around with direct sunlight and maintain a healthy immune system. Early scientific studies mentioned the link between Vitamin D deficiency and "long COVID cases", hence we do and provide what we can for our dear residents to stay healthy. (Although may nagbilad din ng kutson sa init ng araw sa roof deck... 😁)

However there was one incident that a child rode his bike/trike around the whole roof deck and the worry is the child may meet some injury roaming the blower areas. Hence the need to secure those areas to keep residents away from harm.

As there is an ongoing Machine Room Steel Access Ladder Project we took the opportunity to build the gates with the assistance of the welder from the ladder project. While access restriction was the goal of the intended gates, however we also wanted to make them aesthetic enough to match the quadrangle area where TEL3 social events are sometimes held.

As it will be time consuming if we ask the welder to fabricate steel ornaments and consequently it will be less cost effective since we'll be paying the welder on daily rate, we decided to just search for prefabricated steel ornaments from Depot Shops (Wilcon, MC Home Depot, etc.) and ask the welder to focus on the structure of the steel doors.
